The Sonoran Truth expresses its appreciation and best wishes for Mayor David Schwann of Carefree.
“Effective at noon today, February 4, 2015, I resign my office as the Mayor of the Town of Carefree.
Last week I received a diagnosis that I have ALS, “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”. At present I am having difficulty in fulfilling the duties and obligations of the Office of Mayor. I will not be able to meet these obligations in the future. My wife, Binka, and I will be devoting all of our time and energy addressing the consequences of ALS.
I thank the Staffs of the Town of Carefree, the Carefree Water Company and the Carefree-Cave Creek Combined Court for their diligent service while I served as Mayor. Their excellent, dedicated work is greatly appreciated!
Thank you to the citizens of Carefree! I have had the privilege of serving you for over 12 years on committees, Town Council and as Mayor. It has been a privilege, an honor and a most rewarding experience.
