Everyone has opinions about Cave Creek. Issues get tossed about with emotion and rhetoric that may not have anything to do with facts. Facts are not always clear or revealed. The management and leadership of Cave Creek over the last fifteen years concealed facts, and staged democracy to appear as if the Town operated within the constructs of ethics and law, but not really. But unless Cave Creek’s corruption, incompetence, or inefficiency actually impacted your property, your business, or your person, you are blind to the Town’s behavior.
Others focus on VISION- and will align with anyone who supports their vision at the expense of ethics and/or integrity. This is another form of blindness- as damning as the four horsemen of the apocalypse who were elected to clean house, but opted out for ego strokes. That too, was being blind.
Then there’s the back room boys, who cuts deals, tramples the constitution, and justify their conduct with lofty platitudes spoken with Buddhist reverie…Fascism light. And last, there is the despotism Bentley and Sorchych spewed about town like bull excrement.
Sometimes, the blind work with the blind to pursue a VISION which can have catastrophic consequences, Matthew 15:14: “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into a pit.”
Over the next few months, we are going to hear a lot of blind men (and some women) try to explain what is wrong with Cave Creek, what is good about Cave Creek, and how to “fix” it. The Truth is they are all blind. The Truth is, the citizens of Cave Creek are blind. Apathy is blindness. Being oblivious is blindness. Being part of the problem and thinking you are part of the solution is blindness.
